Despite being a clay tournament, the altitude makes Madrid play quite fast, leading to very different matches than you usually see in Rome or <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/tennis\/category\/french-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Roland Garros<\/a> and making results even more unpredictable than usual.<\/p>\n<p>WTA Madrid Day 3 Predictions<br \/>\nJasmine Paolini vs Laura Siegemund<\/p>\n<p>Head-to-head: Paolini 2-1 Siegemund<\/p>\n<p>Paolini hasn\u2019t been having a good 2026 thus far, but clay is arguably her favorite part of the season and she will be looking to get some big results in the coming months. Siegmund played well in round one, but Paolini is a significant step up in level for her and she is unlikely to put up meaninful resistence here.<br \/>Prediction: Paolini in 2<\/p>\n<p>Iva Jovic vs Magda Linette<\/p>\n<p>Head-to-head: Jovic 2-0 Linette<\/p>\n<p>Jovic has been steadily rising up the rankings and will be looking to make further strides in this clay season. Although Linette can play some good tennis on clay, Jovic already has the edge in this matchup and the gap should only increase going forward. Under normal circumstances, it should be Jovic advancing to the third round here.<br \/>Prediction: Jovic in 2<\/p>\n<p>Marie Bouzkova vs Anhelina Kalinina<\/p>\n<p>Head-to-head: Bouzkova 1-0 Kalinina<\/p>\n<p>This matchup is far closer than the rankings would suggest, with Kalinina a much stronger player than her #107 ranking position indicates. She has been playing a lot on clay in the past two months and is clearly a very strong player on this surface; that said, Bouzkova has been playing very well herself and even won a title in Bogota. All in all, it should be a very close match, with small details and execution on the big points deciding the outcome.<br \/>Prediction: Bouzkova in 3<\/p>\n<p>Mirra Andreeva vs Panna Udvardy<\/p>\n<p>Head-to-head: first meeting<\/p>\n<p>On paper, this is arguably the most one sided match of the day, with one of the brightest young players on Tour taking on someone outside the Top 75.
