<\/p>\nDillon Pennington feels Nottinghamshire\u2019s stable of high-quality fast bowlers are pushing each other to greater heights, as Warwickshire prepare to visit Trent Bridge (24-27 April, 11am start).<\/p>\n
Pennington is named in a 13-man squad for the fixture \u2013 and while Fergus O\u2019Neill remains sidelined with the rib injury which occurred during Notts\u2019 last game, the squad includes several accomplished performers with the ball.<\/p>\n
Josh Tongue, Olly Stone, Brett Hutton and Lyndon James are all named alongside the 27-year-old in the squad \u2013 and he feels that strength in depth is a significant positive.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe competition for places is really high,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s great, because you know you have to upskill and keep getting better, and when you get the nod to play you have to do well and compete.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really exciting to be part of an attack in which everyone is firing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pennington is Notts\u2019 leading seam-bowling wicket-taker this season, with eight scalps at 25.37. Only spinner Liam Patterson-White, with nine, has taken more wickets for the side thus far.<\/p>\n
After opening the campaign with a five-wicket haul at Taunton, the right-armer felt he bowled equally well in the win over Glamorgan, but feels a team-first mentality is key.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t quite get the rewards I\u2019d have liked against Glamorgan, but other guys got those rewards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully as a bowling unit, if we put the ball in the right areas enough times, then one of us will get the wickets and we\u2019ll get the results we need.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Warwickshire fixture begins a run of four Championship fixtures in four weeks for Notts, with the Birmingham-based side having enjoyed a productive start to the season.<\/p>\n
But Pennington feels the recent break between games has been beneficial ahead of a busy late April and May.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been good to have a week to freshen up and prepare for what\u2019s going to be a tough four games,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had a couple of really good training days leading into this game, and we know Warwickshire will be a tough side to face.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey had a good game against Essex last week, who are a strong side themselves, so they\u2019ll be going in with confidence.<\/p>\n
