The weekend has landed, and with it comes a slate of movies newly added to streaming. So if you’re in the mood to settle down in front of the TV with a bucket of popcorn in the next few days, then you’ve come to the right place.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights this week are a “masterful” sci-fi thriller from Steven Spielberg, an equally prescient ’90s classic starring Jim Carrey, and a Best Picture-winning British historical drama.<\/p>\n

Digital Spy has rounded-up five of the best movies to keep an eye out for on the likes of Netflix<\/a>, BBC iPlayer and more, as well as a few more to catch.<\/p>\n

Best movie new to Netflix this week\"brad<\/p>\n

Fight Club: Widely regarded as a modern classic, David Fincher’s 1999 drama features Edward Norton and Brad Pitt as a white collar worker and soap salesman, respectively, who form the titular group and fight with other men bored with their lives.<\/p>\n

Also starring Helena Bonham Carter, the movie is notable as a touchstone portrayal of Generation X \u2013 and features one of the most notable twists in cinema history. If you’re yet to catch it, bring the popcorn.<\/p>\n

Also new to Netflix this week: American Gangster, Knocked Up, The Sting, Apex <\/p>\n

The Truman Show: If you’re in the mood for another late-’90s classic, then you can’t get much better than this Jim Carrey flick. The comedy star plays central character Truman Burbank, who is unaware his whole life is being filmed for a reality TV show.<\/p>\n

Sitting at a near-perfect 94% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, The Truman Show was called “a funny, tender, and thought-provoking film” by the site’s consensus, and “a prophetic comedy of ideas that hit all too close to home in our media-savvy, television-obsessed, celebrity-enthralled times” by Q Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also new to Prime Video this week: Django Unchained, Jerry Maguire, The Thing (1982), Mystic River, Snowpiercer, The Lighthouse <\/p>\n

The King\u2019s Speech: This biographical drama tells the story of King George VI as he prepares to make a historic speech while struggling with a stammer. As such, he starts to see speech therapist Lionel Logue, and the two form a deep friendship.<\/p>\n

Winning a Best Actor Oscar for Colin Firth and controversially beating The Social Network to Best Picture in 2011, The King’s Speech has nevertheless proved over the years to be a solid and moving biopic, with Deep Focus Review<\/a> labelling it “as touching as it is inspiring”.<\/p>\n

Minority Report: Called “a masterful work infused with beautiful and haunting visuals” by Ebert & Roeper<\/a>, this 2002 Steven Spielberg thriller has proven scarier as the years have gone on thanks to its portrayal of technology.<\/p>\n

Set in the future, Tom Cruise stars as the head of the ‘precrime’ department of the Washington police, which apprehends murderers before they have even committed crimes \u2013 though things take a turn when he himself is accused of a future murder.<\/p>\n

Also new to ITVX this week: Pitch Perfect, Date Night, The Lost World: Jurassic Park<\/p>\n

Local Hero: A young Peter Capaldi is among the stars in this 1983 classic, which earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> and was called a “Scottish-American charmer with a sublime soundtrack” by The Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Directed and written by Bill Forsyth, Local Hero follows an American oil executive who is sent to a small Scottish village to buy it and turn it into an oil refinery. However, he begins to question whether he is on the right side once he gets to know the local people.<\/p>\n

Also new to Channel 4 this week: Knock at the Cabin, The Frighteners, I Am Not a Witch, Sonic the Hedgehog<\/p>\n
