The announcement took so long to arrive that it made fans a little nervous, but Alien: Earth is indeed returning for a second season<\/a>\u2014and recently announced Peter Dinklage<\/a> as a cast addition. This was all great news for fans of Noah Hawley\u2019s excellent series, which expands the world of the Alien movies<\/a> in creative and freaky ways<\/a>. But now, of course, we want to know: how\u2019s season two coming along, and what\u2019s the plan moving forward?<\/p>\n

Hawley isn\u2019t ready to make any big declarations just yet, but he did give a few crumbs to Deadline<\/a> in a new interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe start [shooting season two] this summer,\u201d he told the trade. \u201cI did a stage walk today past the props and costumes. Things are being built. It\u2019s always exciting to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alien: Earth has shifted production from Thailand to Pinewood Studios in the UK, which Hawley called \u201ca better home for us long-term.\u201d<\/p>\n

Long-term, you say? \u201cIt\u2019s my hope\u2014I have a place that I\u2019m going, but I don\u2019t know how long it will take me to get there,\u201d Hawley teased. \u201cAssuming that the price of execution and the audience stays commensurate, we could go for as long as we want. If we nurture them, these franchises can give back for a very long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Dinklage\u2019s role in season two\u2014which Hawley says \u201cexpands on the promise of the first\u201d with \u201cmore world building\u201d\u2014the showrunner wouldn\u2019t say much, but he did reveal it\u2019s \u201ca major role\u201d within the ensemble. He also promised we\u2019d be hearing more casting news for season two \u201csoon.\u201d<\/p>\n
