Anthony Kiedis\u2019 girlfriend Eileen Kelly has written about the benefits of their age-gap relationship, calling him \u201cone lucky bastard\u201d.<\/p>\n
Kelly is a columnist for\u00a0Vogue\u00a0magazine, and\u00a0began dating the\u00a0Red Hot Chili Peppers <\/a>frontman earlier this year. She is 30 years old, while Kiedis is 63.<\/p>\n In a new article<\/a>, she has espoused what she believes to be the virtues of their age gap, without\u00a0identifying\u00a0Kiedis by name. \u201cIt\u2019s my first time dating someone significantly older, and sometimes I joke with friends that I\u2019ve been missing out my whole life,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is something to be said for a man who\u2019s simply had more time to get his shit together, and my much older boyfriend seems genuinely excited to be with me \u2014 not like he\u2019s biding his time before he can swipe for someone better,\u201d she continued. \u201cHe is fully aware that he\u2019s one lucky bastard.\u201d<\/p>\n She said they met at a birthday party and began\u00a0striking\u00a0a connection after finding out they had a mutual connection to Hawaii. She went on to say she has lost a friend over the relationship and has been mistaken for Kiedis\u2019 daughter on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I were 18, or even 21, the scales would be\u00a0weighted\u00a0far differently,\u201d she went on to explain. \u201cWe\u2019re mostly just two people doing the ongoing, unremarkable work of moving through life together.\u201d<\/p>\n Kiedis was in a relationship with\u00a0actress\u00a0Ione Skye in the late \u201880s and was\u00a0rumoured\u00a0to have a brief relationship with\u00a0Sinead O\u2019Connor<\/a>\u00a0in 1990 and\u00a0Mel C<\/a>\u00a0later that decade.\u00a0He also wrote in his autobiography\u00a0Scar Tissue\u00a0that he had sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl when he was 23.<\/p>\n In other news, the Netflix documentary\u00a0The Rise\u00a0Of\u00a0The\u00a0Red Hot Chili Peppers: Our Brother, Hillel, which\u00a0focused on the early history of the band\u00a0and in particular\u00a0the first guitarist Hillel Slovak,\u00a0premiered last month.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n While the band were interviewed for the film,\u00a0they went out of their way to distance themselves from the project.<\/a>\u00a0Despite\u00a0that,\u00a0Flea spoke positively about the film<\/a>, describing it as \u201ca beautifully made film\u201d that \u201cfilled my heart right to the top, not without a good dose of lifelong melancholy\u201d.<\/p>\n
