Arne Slot admits Liverpool could have a decision to make over the future of Alisson Becker this summer amid ongoing interest in the goalkeeper.<\/p>\n
Alisson<\/a> has emerged as a target for Juventus with reports in Italy this week claiming the player’s representatives will hold talks with the Serie A club over the weekend.<\/a><\/p>\n Liverpool<\/a> recently exercised their option to extend the 33-year-old’s contract by another year, which would prevent the player – who has been at the club since 2018 – from leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.<\/p>\n Alisson has become increasingly hampered by hamstring issues and is likely to remain on the sidelines for Saturday’s Premier League visit of Crystal Palace, with Freddie Woodman poised for his first top-flight start since 2021 with regular deputy Giorgi Mamardashvili<\/a> ruled out injured.<\/p>\n FOLLOW OUR LIVERPOOL FC FACEBOOK PAGE! And it could mean this is the reason why. It could mean another good argument why we acted how we acted.<\/p>\n “I think the history of all the transfers shows that nothing was done without a purpose or without thinking about it.<\/p>\n “Look, the people who make these decisions take everything into account. They try to make the best decisions with the interest of the club.<\/p>\n “It (experience) is definitely one argument to keep him but there are other arguments. That is a decision the club has to make if that is needed. In the end, he still has one year.”<\/p>\n Successive Premier League wins mean Liverpool now require nine points from their remaining five games to ensure a top-five berth and Champions League<\/a> qualification.<\/p>\n Slot, though, is refusing to gauge the success or otherwise of such an achievement with what he regards a difficult job having not been completed.<\/p>\n “I would love to say a lot about that after we qualify, which is not as easy as people think at this moment because for a long time people were questioning, questioning, questioning and now all of a sudden people think it is ‘job done’ but it definitely isn\u2019t,” he said.<\/p>\n “Two weeks ago we were in a very difficult place and two weeks on we are in a good place, so that means in this Premier League<\/a> in two weeks things can be different.<\/p>\n “We all know difficult Palace is, we all know how difficult United away is, we all know Chelsea, Villa away and then Brentford to go. So a tough fixture list but everyone has a tough fixture list as every fixture is tough.”<\/p>\n Palace could become the first team in history to beat Liverpool four times in a single season having already downed the Reds in the Community Shield, the League Cup<\/a> and in the league meeting at Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n
