Liam Delap has endured close to a nightmare first season at Stamford Bridge, and former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has put that form down to a lack of confidence.<\/p>\n

Delap<\/a> has just one Premier League goal to his name this season, and has struggled to convince whoever is in charge that he should be given opportunities ahead of Joao Pedro<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian has been injured for the last two league games and this has coincided with Chelsea<\/a> struggling greatly in front of goal.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says Liam Delap is lacking confidence at Chelsea<\/p>\n

Some Chelsea fans have already given up on the Englishman, although Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes his problems are far more mental.<\/p>\n

He told TalkSPORT<\/a> that he has not been getting enough opportunities to build up rhythm since his summer move from Ipswich Town.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI think for him it\u2019s confidence. When you\u2019re out there and you\u2019re not having any rhythm, you know, then he plays, then he doesn\u2019t, then he gets 10 minutes, then he doesn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you are not scoring and it\u2019s and it\u2019s taking a long time you get to doubt yourself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think needs he needs coaching because here and there I think he can he can be in better positions, but I think majority is it is self-belief it\u2019s confidence you don\u2019t lose your ability from one day to another you don\u2019t become all of a sudden a bad player from one day to another. So, it\u2019s all in the head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delap will be one of many Chelsea players taking a real interest in who takes over as the new manager of the club after Liam Rosenior\u2019s<\/a> sacking earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Delap already linked with move away<\/p>\n

Despite not even completing his first season with the club, the striker is already being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Newcastle are reportedly keen on Delap<\/a> after missing out on him last summer when he was on the radar of plenty of top clubs.<\/p>\n

There is also interest from Everton<\/a>, and this level of side looks more suitable for where Delap\u2019s game is at right now.<\/p>\n

Delap himself is open to a move away<\/a>, with him being well aware that he has not received the minutes he would have liked this season.<\/p>\n
