Leigh Leopards have picked up another injury blow amid a wave of players closing in on a return and so Adrian Lam has challenged his side to truly kickstart their season.<\/p>\n

Victory over Huddersfield Giants<\/a> marked the club\u2019s second consecutive win this season, the first time they\u2019ve managed that in Super League in 2026, and Lam has now challenged his side to make it three when they travel to take on Catalans next week.<\/p>\n

Despite their torrid start that saw them rooted to the foot of the table at one point, Leigh only remain two points outside the top six as it stands and a win next week over Catalans, who currently sit two points ahead with a game in hand, could help close the gap even further.<\/p>\n

One man who may not be making the journey to Perpignan is Robbie Mulhern with the prop limping off inside ten minutes with a recurrence of a calf injury that ruled him out last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s done something to his calf but we\u2019ll have to wait and see what that is,\u201d Adrian Lam confirmed in his post-match presser, shared on the club\u2019s YouTube<\/a> channel.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got no idea what level that is going to be until we get a scan. We\u2019ll probably know more tomorrow (Friday) at some stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leigh Leopards squad set to be bolstered despite latest injury<\/p>\n

Whilst Mulhern is an obvious loss, it comes at a time when Leigh are starting to get bodies back with Andrew Badrock the only senior long-term injury.<\/p>\n

Star full-back David Armstrong returned in the reserves last night<\/a>, something Lam pointed to as a reason to be excited as well as the host of other returning players.<\/p>\n

He confirmed: \u201cDavid Armstrong played in the reserves as a curtain raiser and scored a great try. He was buzzing after that he\u2019s back. It\u2019s a long time when you\u2019re injured with such a horrific injury as a knee reconstruction.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was buzzing and he\u2019ll come into contention, whether it\u2019s next week or the week after, or the week after that. It\u2019s good that he\u2019s back in the picture.<\/p>\n

\u201cOther players like Umyla Hanley and Tesi Niu will be back next week for that game so I\u2019m pretty excited.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite losing Mulhern, the fact so many others are returning gives the Leopards options both on game-day but also in training, as Lam explained:\u00a0\u201cI think just having more players at training would help. Some weeks we\u2019ve had single figures on the field, which has been a real challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re coming towards the end of that now, it\u2019s not there yet, but the players that are there had a great win tonight at home and if we can go away next week and take on Catalans and get a win, it will be three in a row and the confidence will certainly come back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019ll only be two points outside of the six after this week which is incredible considering the run we\u2019ve had. Luckily other teams are beating each other, so we\u2019re not far off.\u201d<\/p>\n
