{"id":550233,"date":"2026-04-25T16:16:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T16:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/550233\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T16:16:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T16:16:13","slug":"pga-tour-insider-jon-rahm-and-bryson-dechambeau-will-not-get-the-koepka-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/550233\/","title":{"rendered":"PGA Tour insider: Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau will not get the Koepka treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PGA Tour boss Brian Rolapp will reportedly face stiff opposition if he attempts to create a smooth path back for Jon Rahm an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/bryson-dechambeau\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"242767b9-c064-41ee-8466-f7a85ab9a8cc\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Bryson DeChambeau\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">d Bryson DeChambeau<\/a> if they decide to leave LIV Golf, according to a report.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The playing futures of both players have come into sharp focus after reports last week suggested Saudi Arabia&#8217;s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is set to withdraw its financial support for the breakaway tour at the conclusion of the season in August.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/liv-golf\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"a98bdd27-b225-4fc9-b7d2-bbff98678a53\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"LIV Golf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LIV Golf<\/a> insist it is business as usual but their chief executive, Scott O&#8217;Neil, appeared to indicate there were in fact huge doubts about the league&#8217;s future during an interview with TNT Sports last week in Mexico. PIF are also yet to comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>O&#8217;Neil told former English professional golfer Oliver Wilson that the league was &#8220;funded through 2026&#8221; and he would spend the next few months &#8220;working like crazy&#8221; to &#8220;create a business plan to keep us going&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DeChambeau was among the first wave of players to be recruited by LIV in 2022, penning a deal worth more than $100m. His contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign and the American, 32, is yet to commit his future to the organisation. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>It has been reported he wants at least $500m to remain. The two-time U.S. Open champion broke his silence on the subject on Wednesday, explaining that he thinks there will be a solution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/2026-03-15t083535z_1927993158_up1em3f0nva3r_rtrmadp_3_golf-liv-singapore_0.JPG\"   type=\"image\/jpeg\" alt=\"Jon Rahm\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.44\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Jon Rahm<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/jon-rahm\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"c782252c-246d-46d2-9cef-a1b05de0c85b\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Jon Rahm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rahm<\/a> joined LIV in December 2024 and is thought to have agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract that will take him through to the end of the 2027 season should the rival league continue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DeChambeau and Rahm would be expected to resume their careers on the PGA Tour if LIV&#8217;s empire does come crumbling down.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Eamon Lynch of Golfweek has reported Rahm and DeChambeau are unlikely to get the same soft landing Koepka did when he left LIV and re-joined the PGA Tour in January.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/brooks-koepka\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"5afa99fd-7484-4c59-bf2c-7368bc30b1e6\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Brooks Koepka\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Koepka<\/a> was able to return to the PGA Tour via a hastily-arranged &#8220;returning member programme&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Per the conditions, Koepka was made to make a charitable donation of $5m, forfeit FedEx Cup bonus money in 2026 and earn his way into the bumper prize purse signature events.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Show Instagram Embedded Content<\/p>\n<p>Loading this video will expose you to potential cookies and tracking by the provider<\/p>\n<p>The American, 35, is also not eligible for the PGA Tour&#8217;s player equity programme for the next four years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rahm, DeChambeau and former Open champion Cameron Smith were eligible for the same programme but opted to stay with LIV.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not the Tour would offer the same terms in the future remains to be seen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>And according to the report, a PGA Tour insider has suggested that a pathway back may prove troublesome now as both players are not particularly popular with the current membership.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It would not be palatable should Rahm be allowed to come back with his pockets stuffed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And it has also not been forgotten that DeChambeau was among the 11 LIV Golf players that sued the PGA Tour in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/golfweek-eu.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/golf\/liv\/2026\/04\/24\/bryson-dechambeau-jon-rahm-cool-reception-upon-pga-tour-return\/89770028007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A source told the publication:<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There\u00a0was\u00a0respect and enthusiasm for Koepka.\u00a0Maybe less\u00a0respect for [Patrick]\u00a0Reed, but\u00a0understanding that his path was different and\u00a0respect\u00a0that he was willing to earn that path. This will be a much more difficult path back because of the changed circumstances, and the suit by Bryson. I don&#8217;t see any reason to worry. I haven&#8217;t given up on that and I think there will be a solution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But as of right now, my job is to help make the league work after this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I just feel like I have a responsibility. I&#8217;ve put a lot of effort into it. And so there&#8217;s going to be times where we&#8217;re squeezed and punched.
