Former Man Utd midfielder Nicky Butt thinks a potential summer move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is a \u201clong shot\u201d for the Red Devils.<\/p>\n
The Red Devils invested over \u00a3200m in new players last year with most of that money going on improving their blunt attack from the previous season.<\/p>\n
Only four clubs scored fewer goals than Man Utd<\/a> last term and, now they\u2019ve largely fixed that problem, the Red Devils are looking to strengthen their midfield.<\/p>\n With Casemiro leaving on a free transfer and Manuel Ugarte likely to be sold, Man Utd are set to bring in at least two new midfielders in the summer.<\/p>\n Nottingham Forest\u2019s Elliot Anderson, Crystal Palace\u2019s Adam Wharton and Newcastle\u2019s Sandro Tonali have been amongst the names linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer.<\/p>\n One of the most recent links has been to Real Madrid midfielder Tchouameni with rumours that the Spanish side could be ready to let him go.<\/p>\n READ: Man Utd \u2018revisionism\u2019 exposed as Arsenal backed for double with title race \u2018uncomfortably familiar\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n However, ex-Man Utd midfielder Butt reckons it could be tough to persuade Real Madrid to part with the France international, who is valued at around \u00a370m.<\/p>\n Butt told Paddy Power: \u201cI loved him at Monaco before he went to Real Madrid. I think he\u2019s a phenomenal footballer and exactly what United need in that sitting area.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t see Real Madrid selling Tchouameni until they get somebody who can replace him \u2013 maybe Rodri if Pep leaves Man City \u2013 or if [Florentino Perez] wants to rip it up because they\u2019re not winning.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a phenomenal player and that would be showing real intent of, we\u2019re not messing about, we\u2019re going to go for it.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s playing for one of the biggest football clubs in the world. It\u2019s a long shot and, for me, depends on if Pep was to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n MORE MAN UTD COVERAGE ON F365\u2026 When asked if Tchouameni is a better signing that Wharton or Anderson, Butt replied: \u201cI\u2019d go for two of them.<\/p>\n \u201cIn years gone by Man United would have gone for both. Whether that\u2019s doable or not, I\u2019m not sure.<\/p>\n \u201cI always talk about Premier League experience, but that\u2019s more with younger players, like a Rasmus Hojlund or a Benjamin Sesko.<\/p>\n \u201cThis boy has been playing in Europe, in the Champions League for years.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a top player, an international player, been in big tournaments. He\u2019s a fantastic player, so with that one I think you just go, \u2018he\u2019s capable\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously you never quite know until they come in but he\u2019s a beast of a player.<\/p>\n \u201cTchouameni is getting into his prime, he\u2019s got everything. He\u2019s a good footballer, powerful, quick, strong, aggressive. He\u2019s one that we will need.\u201d<\/p>\n Tchouameni is \u2018certainly appreciated\u2019 by Man Utd \u2013 Romano<\/p>\n Fabrizio Romano insists there are few signs that Real Madrid will be entertaining offers for Tchouameni but he is \u201ccertainly appreciated\u201d by Man Utd.<\/p>\n
