From the cobbled streets of Rye<\/a>, to the colourful townhouses of Primrose Hill, and the crescent-shaped groves of Bath<\/a>, when it comes to pretty streets, the UK has a lot of stunners to choose from<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Telegraph<\/a>\u00a0has just named Britain\u2019s prettiest streets for 2026. The paper decided not to include any purely residential roads, instead focussing on thoroughfares that have got at least one thing to do or see there, be it a local cheese shop,\u00a0or a fantastic pub.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Taking the top prize for Britain\u2019s prettiest street was\u00a0Steep Hill in Lincoln<\/a>. With a gradient of 16.2 degrees, the aptly named Steep Hill isn\u2019t the UK\u2019s most vertical street (it\u2019s actually fourth), but walking up\u00a0is\u00a0probably enough to get those glutes burning.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Steep Hill is a goldmine for historical architecture. At its top sits a Tudor house, while it also has the remains of a Roman fort\u2019s gate (seen in the brickwork at Number 44), and two Norman houses dating back to the 12th century.\u00a0The road is also known for its independent shops and businesses, which include the quaint Bunty\u2019s Tea Room, eclectic vintage shop Heritage Country and the Mouse House cheesemongers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Coming in second place was Rye<\/a>\u2019s Mermaid Street, a cobbled alley known for its\u00a0Georgian and half-timbered buildings. The street is named after the 15th century\u00a0Mermaid Inn, which has cellars dating back to 1156.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Victoria Street in Edinburgh<\/a> took the bronze. Designed in the 1830s, the elegant curved street was influenced by the \u2018Old Flemish\u2019 style and inspired Harry Potter\u2019s Diagon Alley.\u00a0<\/p>\n
