Gina Carano claims to have spoken with Lucasfilm President and Chief Creative Officer, Dave Filoni, and The Mandalorian and Grogu director Jon Favreau, since her legal team reached a settlement reached a settlement<\/a> with Disney regarding her firing from the high profile Star Wars series.<\/p>\n

Ahead of a highly-publicized MMA match with Ronda Rousey, Ariel Helwani<\/a> (hat tip Forbes<\/a>) recently got to speak with Gina Carano and learned that she had spoken with Lucasfilm quite recently. She implied that she has had conversations about the future of her character in the franchise:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve already had a conversation with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. We got onto a Zoom call. It was really nice. Dave is taking over as CEO of Star Wars. We didn\u2019t miss a beat. Jon Favreau got on Zoom and was really funny. He was like \u2018So; where did we leave off?’\u201d<\/p>\n

Gina Carano initially came under fire on social media for making comments deemed culturally insensitive, initially backing a company-advised apology before doubling down on that rhetoric. Lucasfilm ultimately fired the actress after a boiling point was reached and chose not to recast her character. She then filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Disney, which was settled out of court last August.<\/p>\n

Lucasfilm had no comment on the meeting or a potential return of Cara Dune, and instead redirected us to the following statement issued last summer:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are no other concrete details about Carano\u2019s return, but the timing does not suggest she will appear in either The Mandalorian and Grogu or Ahsoka Season 2. We know Dave Filoni is working on a feature film that would culminate the storylines of the MandoVerse, but we have barely had any details on that in two years.<\/p>\n
