Reform UK<\/a> legal representative wrote a letter of complaint to Alistair Cochrane, the chief executive of Royal Mail, which said the screenshot was circulated on Saturday.<\/p>\nRoyal Mail said it \u201cplays a crucial role in elections\u201d and \u201cwe take our responsibility very seriously and do not tolerate the deliberate non-delivery of mail\u201d.<\/p>\n
It added: \u201cWe are investigating this allegation and remain committed to impartial delivery for all candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Reform leader, Nigel Farage, said on X: \u201cIt is right that @RoyalMail have launched a full investigation into this allegation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf found to be true, it would be very disturbing and an attack on the democratic process itself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reform has demanded an \u201cimmediate and thorough internal investigation\u201d within three days of its letter, dated Saturday, and a full written explanation in addition to any compensation measures \u201cRoyal Mail proposes to offer Reform UK for the loss and disruption caused by this incident\u201d.<\/p>\n
The party is also seeking confirmation that appropriate disciplinary action \u201cup to and including summary dismissal\u201d has or will be taken \u201cagainst any employee found to have participated in or condoned the destruction of the materials\u201d.<\/p>\n
It called for written assurances that future Reform campaign deliveries will be \u201cprioritised, properly monitored, and safeguarded against any recurrence\u201d.<\/p>\n
The legal representative said of the Facebook post: \u201cThis admission provides clear prima facie evidence of the deliberate destruction or non-delivery of Reform UK\u2019s door-to-door campaign materials that had been entrusted to Royal Mail.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch conduct constitutes a wilful breach of Royal Mail\u2019s statutory and contractual obligations to deliver mail and literature impartially and efficiently.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt also undermines the democratic process and Reform UK\u2019s lawful right to engage in political campaigning.\u201d<\/p>\n
