The NFL Draft has come and gone, with the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> still having receiver Brandon Aiyuk on the roster.<\/p>\n

Granted, that isn’t surprising, as no team will want to trade for a player who most likely knows the franchise will just release him\u00a0anyway.<\/p>\n

The Washington Commanders<\/a> have long been linked with Aiyuk, but a move hasn’t materialized just yet, and some think it might not. So it leaves a lot hanging in the balance.<\/p>\n

But for general manager John Lynch, he’s given somewhat of a shrewd plea for teams to call the 49ers about Aiyuk.<\/p>\n

“No new update right now,” Lynch said<\/a>. “We’re available. Give us a call. And like I said earlier, I think it’s the prudent thing to do. He’s an extremely talented player. He’s been an extremely effective player in our league; situation didn’t work itself out here. That’s not to say that it can’t be rekindled somewhere else. And we’d be happy to do something with anyone if the opportunity presented itself.”<\/p>\n

Where will Aiyuk land?<\/p>\n

Well, your guess is as good as mine, because right now, most have no idea.<\/p>\n

The Commanders loom as the one team that fits, but we have also heard rumors that Aiyuk could stay with the 49ers, though that seems unlikely to me.<\/p>\n

But the thing we have to ask ourselves is which team will give up draft capital for a player they know the 49ers will likely release, plus, Aiyuk hasn’t played in over a year, so what sort of receiver are you getting?<\/p>\n

There’s a lot of question marks over Aiyuk right now, which is why the 49ers likely haven’t received many calls for the receiver.<\/p>\n

Could that change? Absolutely. But right now, there doesn’t appear to be a big market for the receiver.<\/p>\n
