{"id":553906,"date":"2026-04-27T20:58:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T20:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/553906\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T20:58:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T20:58:13","slug":"rugby-football-league-to-urgently-meet-as-north-wales-crusaders-withdraw-from-upcoming-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/553906\/","title":{"rendered":"Rugby Football League to \u2018urgently\u2019 meet as North Wales Crusaders withdraw from upcoming game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/OH8_3643.jpg\" class=\"attachment- size- wp-post-image\" alt=\"Championship\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The Rugby Football League have shared a statement confirming an urgent meeting in regards the future of Championship club North Wales Crusaders.<\/p>\n<p>North Wales recently shared a statement to confirm that the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriousaboutrl.com\/rugby-league-news-championship-club-release-statement-on-future-as-owners-withdraw-funding-114226\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> club\u2019s owners would no longer be providing funding<\/a> with other outlets reporting major financial issues at the Welsh club.<\/p>\n<p>The Crusaders are the only Welsh rugby league club in the semi-professional space but their future is now under huge threat as they have now withdrawn from their upcoming Championship game, just a couple of weeks after<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriousaboutrl.com\/rugby-league-news-championship-side-north-wales-crusaders-suffer-latest-blow-as-club-forced-to-withdraw-from-cup-competition-114375\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> forfeiting their 1895 Cup tie against Midlands Hurricanes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>North Wales did not play this past weekend as they were on bye anyway but a statement from the sport\u2019s governing body has confirmed that the Crusaders are unable to fulfill this coming weekend\u2019s fixture against Doncaster RLFC.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a decision that understandably casts doubt on the chances of the club seeing the season out.<\/p>\n<p>Jake Connor\u2019s World Cup chances, Brian McDermott reaction &amp; Leeds Rhinos early title favourites \u2013 <a class=\"in-cell-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XgTBWWq5qjs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">click here to watch the latest episode of the Serious About Rugby League Show<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rugby league in North Wales at huge risk<\/p>\n<p>A statement from the RFL read: \u201cNorth Wales Crusaders have informed the Rugby Football League they are unable to fulfill their Championship fixture with Doncaster RLFC due to ongoing issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFriday\u2019s game has now been postponed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe RFL Board will be urgently meeting to discuss the situation and the next steps.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, North Wales Crusaders said: \u201cWe apologise to all concerned, especially the supporters of both clubs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doncaster also shared a statement as they apologised to supporters and confirmed that refunds will be credited to fans.
