I\u2019m not a rapist. I didn\u2019t rape anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Donnell did a double take and said: \u201cOh you think- do you think he was referring to you?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not a pedophile. Excuse me. Excuse me. I\u2019m not a pedophile,\u201d Trump replied. \u201cYou read that crap from some sick person? I got associated with all- stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, little\u2019s say, Epstein or other things.\u201d<\/p>\n The president then attacked O\u2019Donnell again, saying \u201cyou should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I\u2019m not any of those things.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump was apparently happy enough with his answer to O\u2019Donnell\u2019s question that the exchange was included in a highlight reel from the interview<\/a> posted on the White House YouTube channel.<\/p>\n Despite the president\u2019s anger at being asked about that apparent description of him, which has become common among his critics amid widespread anger at his long friendship with the late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the federal government\u2019s criminal complaint against Allen<\/a>, filed in federal court on Monday, quotes the same part of the manifesto to accuse the suspect of planning to assassinate Trump.<\/p>\n According to the complaint, from an FBI special agent, Allen sent a note to family and friends by email shortly before he attempted to charge into the White House Correspondents\u2019 dinner on Saturday night in Washington, is which he described his motivation as follows:<\/p>\n double quotation markOn to why I did any of this:<\/p>\n I am a citizen of the United States of America.<\/p>\n What my representatives do reflects on me.<\/p>\n And I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.<\/p>\n (Well, to be completely honest, I was no longer willing a long time ago, but this is the first real opportunity I\u2019ve had to do something about it.) Unlike with many foreign dignitaries, Trump and Charles won\u2019t be meeting on camera, for the reasons discussed below:<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Alleged press gala attacker stormed security checkpoint with long gun, acting attorney general says<\/p>\n Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, offered some details of how the attack on the White House correspondents\u2019 dinner unfolded.<\/p>\n Cole Tomas Allen, the man accused in the attack, traveled from Los Angeles to Washington DC by train via Chicago, arriving 24 April, Blanche said. This heroic officer, who was hit, fired five times at Allen, who was not shot, but fell to the ground and was promptly arrested.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a015.37 EDT<\/p>\n Man who allegedly targeted Trump at press gala facing life in prison, acting attorney general says<\/p>\n The acting attorney general, Todd Blanche, has just convened a press conference where he is outlining the charges against Cole Tomas Allen, the 31-year-old who allegedly attacked the White House correspondents\u2019 dinner on Saturday in an effort to kill Donald Trump.<\/p>\n \u201cToday, the Department of Justice filed three federal charges in United States federal court against Cole Thomas Allen. The first count is attempted assassination of the president of the United States. There is already too much chumminess between our political leaders in Washington and the press corps that is supposed to hold them to account \u2013 pitching the White House as a venue for the event is a colossal conflict of interest that would impede the core function of the free press in a democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a014.05 EDT<\/p>\n Trump says Jimmy Kimmel ‘should be immediately fired’ for joke told before press gala attack<\/p>\n Donald Trump just called for Jimmy Kimmel to be fired for a joke made in a monologue prior to Saturday\u2019s attack on the White House correspondent\u2019s dinner, in which the comedian said first lady Melania Trump resembled an \u201cexpectant widow\u201d.<\/p>\n Alleging that the gunman who tried to storm the gala with the White House press corps \u201cwas there for a very obvious and sinister reason\u201d, the 79-year-old Trump wrote on Truth Social:<\/p>\n double quotation markI appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel\u2019s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale.
