Matt Fitzpatrick and his brother Alex recovered from a final-round stumble to make history by becoming the first siblings to win a PGA Tour title at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.<\/p>\n

The Sheffield pair produced a birdie on the final hole to secure victory by one shot as Matt, 31, became the first player in more than two years to win back-to-back events on the PGA Tour and the first Englishman to win three times in the same American season.<\/p>\n

His superb 35-yard bunker shot at the par-five 18th left his younger sibling with a tap-in to finish on 31 under and avoid a three-way play-off at TPC Louisiana.<\/p>\n

The victory also meant that Alex, 27, earned a PGA Tour card through 2028, with exemptions to this year\u2019s remaining signature events as well as next month\u2019s US PGA Championship and the 2027 Players Championship.<\/p>\n

The pair had begun the day with a four-stroke lead but a bogey on the 14th meant that had been whittled away after Matt had driven behind a tree and Alex\u2019s recovery rebounded off another, resulting in a double bogey on the 12th.<\/p>\n

Matt, who won the RBC Heritage a week earlier and the Valspar Championship in March, was struggling despite being the more experienced player, and when Alex hit his tee shot to 14ft at the difficult par-three 17th his brother miscued the birdie attempt.<\/p>\n

Kristoffer Reitan and Kris Ventura of Norway, and the American pair of Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer, were already in the clubhouse on 30 under but Matt redeemed himself down the last with a superb sand save to set up the crucial birdie for his brother.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a struggle. I was doing absolute zero to help him apart from the putt I made on 15. I wasn\u2019t providing much support but he [Alex] was fantastic on the back nine,\u201d said Matt, who is now ranked No3 in the world.<\/p>\n

Alex, the world No141, has until 5pm local time (8pm BST) on Monday to officially join the PGA Tour to be eligible for the $20million (about \u00a314million) Cadillac Championship, which starts on Thursday at US president Donald Trump\u2019s Doral resort in Florida.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt won\u2019t sink in \u2014 I\u2019ve got a flight booked for Turkey tonight [as he was scheduled to compete in the Turkish Airlines Open on the DP World Tour].<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s amazing to be here with him [Matt], mum and dad. It\u2019s as good as it gets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Nelly Korda returned to No1 in the world with a dominant five-shot victory at the LPGA Chevron Championship.<\/p>\n

Korda, 27, carded a final-round 70 at Memorial Golf Course to finish 18 under and she celebrated by jumping into the pool by the 18th green. <\/p>\n

It takes the American\u2019s tally of major titles to three, having also won the Chevron Championship in 2024 and the Women\u2019s PGA Championship in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a hard weekend,\u201d Korda said. \u201cHonestly, having that big a lead, it\u2019s not easy. It was definitely one of the hardest things I\u2019ve had to do mentally.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have an amazing support system. An amazing family who are right behind me. An amazing caddie who is on the bag and I\u2019m just happy to get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n
