{"id":555821,"date":"2026-04-28T22:35:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T22:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/555821\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T22:35:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T22:35:07","slug":"shakur-stevenson-called-out-by-world-champion-looking-to-move-up-in-weight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/555821\/","title":{"rendered":"Shakur Stevenson called out by world champion looking to move up in weight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WBO super-lightweight world champion <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/shakur-stevenson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shakur Stevenson<\/a> is a fighter that many in the sport seem to want to avoid, but there is one fellow world champion who is hoping to move up in weight and secure a showdown with the undefeated Newark southpaw.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2026\/feb\/01\/shakur-stevenson-teofimo-lopez-fight-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Stevenson became boxing\u2019s third-youngest four-division world champion when he dethroned Teofimo Lopez back in January,<\/a> adding to his successes at featherweight, super-featherweight and lightweight.<\/p>\n<p>Stevenson had been expected to return to lightweight and defend the WBC belt in 2023, but the sanctioning body stripped him of his lightweight crown due to unpaid sanctioning fees. As a result, it seems as though the 28-year-old will remain at 140lbs, but if he does decide to drop back down, WBC super-featherweight champion O\u2019Shaquie Foster wants to meet him there.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/nL7HMeVDJjg?si=MH8dFxhzI_9am21G\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FightHype<\/a>, Foster said facing the pound-for-pound star following his fight against Raymond Ford next month is \u2018the first option.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am just excited by what is next.
