Now, Toy Story 5 is heading to theaters this summer<\/a>, bringing Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the gang back for another big-screen adventure<\/a>. But before the toys return, the movie has reportedly been hit with a classification update that breaks a pretty major franchise tradition.<\/p>\n

According to a listing found through Cinemark\u2019s private screenings page, Toy Story 5 has received a PG rating from the Motion Picture Association. That may not sound wild at first, because plenty of modern family movies land in PG territory. But for Toy Story, it\u2019s a big deal. If the listing is accurate, this will mark the first mainline Toy Story movie in franchise history to receive a PG rating instead of a G rating.<\/p>\n

The four previous movies were rated G, so that’s a big leap for the main series. Might it affect parents choosing to take their small children? Probably not, but it’s still noteworthy. The franchise\u2019s theatrical spin-off, Lightyear, was rated PG, but that was technically outside the core Woody-and-Buzz storyline.
