A UK furniture giant<\/a> that has been making sofas since 1990 has fallen into administration<\/a>. Scan-Thors (U.K.) Limited, which is based in Silsden, Keighley, has formally appointed an administrator after running into financial difficulty.<\/p>\n

According to a notice published in The London Gazette<\/a>, the company entered administration<\/a> on April 23, 2026. The appointment was made in the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts in Leeds, under court reference CR-2026-000415.<\/p>\n

Zane Collins, of Rushtons Insolvency Limited, has been named as administrator. He is now responsible for taking control of the company\u2019s affairs and deciding what happens next.<\/p>\n

Scan-Thors (U.K.) Limited is registered at 35a Keighley Road, Silsden, Keighley, BD20 0EB, which is also listed as its principal trading address.<\/p>\n

In simple terms, administration<\/a> is a formal insolvency process. When a company enters administration, its directors no longer control the business. Instead, a licensed insolvency practitioner takes over.<\/p>\n

The main aim is usually to rescue the company, if possible. If that cannot be achieved, the administrator will look to secure a better outcome for creditors than if the firm were immediately closed and its assets sold off.<\/p>\n

This can involve restructuring the business, selling it to a new owner, or selling assets to repay debts.<\/p>\n

Scan-Thors (U.K.) Limited was incorporated on August 7, 1990. It operated as a furniture wholesaler<\/a>, supplying upholstered furniture, including sofas and sofa beds, to retailers across the UK.<\/p>\n

The firm acted as a middleman in the supply chain, sourcing products and distributing them to larger retail chains<\/a> as well as independent furniture shops.<\/p>\n

Google currently lists the business as permanently closed, and its website appears to have been taken down.<\/p>\n
