Rory McIlroy will make his return to action next month at the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow.<\/p>\n

The Northern Irishman is yet to feature since claiming his second successive Masters<\/a> at Augusta earlier this month.<\/p>\n

And that has seen him miss out on a potential whopping $49.5m purse.<\/p>\n

McIlroy joined Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods<\/a> as the only golfers to win the Masters in consecutive tournaments.<\/p>\n

However, there has since been a three-week hiatus from all forms of golf.<\/p>\n

Fans have been left wondering when the 36-year-old would make his return to the green after skipping this week’s Cadillac Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That followed his bypassing of the Zurich Classic and RBC Heritage shortly after picking up his second green jacket.<\/p>\n

Back on familiar ground<\/p>\n

But fans now know that McIlroy will make his grand return at the Truist Championship starting on May 6 \u2013 an event he has won on four occasions.<\/p>\n

The news was announced via the tournament\u2019s social media account.<\/p>\n

The post on X read: \u201cWelcome six-time major champion, @McIlroyRory, to the Truist Championship!\u201d<\/p>\n

The tournament will provide McIlroy with the opportunity to fine-tune his skills ahead of the PGA Championship<\/a> which tees off on May 14.<\/p>\n

His last victory at Quail Hollow came in 2024 when he recorded a five-shot victory over Xander Schauffele<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He finished in a tie for seventh in 2025, six shots behind eventual winner Sepp Straka.<\/p>\n

McIlroy stopped short of committing to a host of events in the weeks following the Masters claiming he wanted to be more selective about the tournaments he plays in in 2026.<\/p>\n

He also said he did not plan to take a long period off following his heroics at Augusta.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think different (the schedule between events). Different (from 2025),\u201d McIlroy told reporters earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I said at the start of the weekend here I felt like the Grand Slam was the destination, and I realized it wasn\u2019t. I\u2019m on this journey to \u2014 I don\u2019t know, I just won my sixth major, and I feel like I\u2019m in a really good spot with my game and my body.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve waited so long to win the Masters, and all of a sudden I win two in a row.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I still want to enjoy it.
