\n\tJeremy Strong<\/a> will star in \u201cThe Passenger,\u201d a historical escape thriller from Magnus von Horn<\/a>. FilmNation<\/a> Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights, excluding German-speaking territories and Poland, to the film. <\/p>\n

\n\tThis marks the English-language debut of von Horn, a Swedish and Polish director whose previous film, \u201cThe Girl with the Needle,\u201d was nominated for the Academy Award for best international feature film. <\/p>\n

\n\tStrong was an Oscar nominee for his turn as Roy Cohn in \u201cThe Apprentice\u201d and won an Emmy for his performance on \u201cSuccession\u201d and a Tony for the 2024 revival of \u201cAn Enemy of the People.\u201d His credits include \u201cSpringsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,\u201d \u201cThe Gentlemen,\u201d \u201cThe Trial of the Chicago 7\u201d and\u00a0\u201cArmageddon Time.\u201d Strong will next portray\u00a0Facebook founder and Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg\u00a0in\u00a0\u201cThe Social Reckoning,\u201d a <\/a>follow-up to\u00a0\u201cThe Social Network.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe script for \u201cThe Passenger,\u201d which von Horn co-wrote with Aleko Gotscheff, is based on the 1938 novel of the same name by Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz. It was a U.K. Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller translated into over 30 languages.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn \u201cThe Passenger,\u201d respected businessman Otto Silbermann is forced to flee Berlin after the November 1938 pogroms, known as Kristallnacht or the Night of Broken Glass. According to an official plot description, the film follows Otto as he tries \u201cto escape with his wealth\u201d and \u201cdrifts from train to train as his homeland becomes a cage and his identity dissolves.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI keep being struck by how history repeats itself. Boschwitz wrote \u2018The Passenger\u2019 as a 23-year-old refugee in 1938, he didn\u2019t have the luxury of hindsight, and neither does Otto Silbermann, who moves through Germany over four days believing the next train, the next acquaintance, the next bank counter will return him to the life he knew,\u201d Von Horn said in a statement. \u201cI want to make a film about that exact moment, the moment before someone admits the world has changed. I see it everywhere now: in headlines, in negotiations, in the rooms of people I love. We are extraordinary at staying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Passenger\u201d is produced by Port au Prince Films (Jan Krueger, Rosh Khodabakhsh) and Lava Films (Mariusz W\u0142odarski), Martina Valentina Baumgartner serves as an executive producer. FilmNation is co-financing the film and launching sales out of Cannes.<\/p>\n

\n\tFilmNation\u2019s projects include Sean Baker\u2019s \u201cAnora,\u201d Edward Berger\u2019s \u201cConclave\u201d and Emerald Fennell\u2019s \u201cPromising Young Woman.\u201d Recent TV releases include the Prime Video Original Series \u201cThe House of the Spirits\u201d and \u201cSmall Town, Big Story\u201d for Sky. FilmNation\u2019s theater credits include 2024 Best Play Tony-Winner \u201cStereophonic\u201d and the Tony Award-Winning productions \u201cPrima Facie\u201d and \u201cThe Band\u2019s Visit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe deal for \u201cThe Passenger\u201d was negotiated by Laffill\u00e9 on behalf of FilmNation Entertainment, W\u0142odarski on behalf of Lava Films, and Krueger on behalf of Port au Prince Films. <\/p>\n
