Charlie Woods, son of 15-time Major winner Tiger, agonisingly missed out on the cut for the US Open final qualifying. The 17-year-old missed out on a playoff by a single stroke after recording an even par 72 at the Eagle Trace Golf<\/a> Club in Coral Springs, Florida.<\/p>\n Woods missed the chance to go into the final qualifying round for the US Open in June, competing against experienced professionals and talented amateurs. Woods stands number 14 on the Rolex American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Rankings and isn’t due to move into higher education until September 2027.<\/p>\n Tiger previously spoke about playing alongside his son and seeing him go through the process. He said: “It’s fun to be a part of the process with Charlie and go through it and see where the opportunities that he has that he has created for himself by playing better, places that he could play, wants to play and ultimately we’ll decide where he wants to go play.<\/p>\n JOIN US ON FACEBOOK! We would have written letters that would show up in the mailbox. \u2018Oh, my God, I got a letter.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just very different, how fast coaches can communicate with the family members and the player that they\u2019re trying to recruit.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just a different world<\/a>. Not saying it\u2019s good or bad, it\u2019s just different.\u201d<\/p>\n Charlie with Tiger Woods in 2024(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n Charlie won his first AJGA title in May last year as a 16-year-old when he claimed a three-shot victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Florida. Tiger, meanwhile, qualified for his first PGA Tour major at the same age when he qualified for what’s now called The Genesis Invitational – formerly known as the Nissan Los Angeles Open in 1992.<\/p>\n His father played in 13 tournaments from 1991 to 1993, winning on eight occasions, which is the joint highest behind Phil Mickelson.<\/p>\n Since his win in 2025, the 17-year-old has played in eight tournaments with his best coming in the Boys Junior PGA Championship when he finished tied for ninth.
