{"id":559709,"date":"2026-05-01T01:02:19","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T01:02:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/559709\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T01:02:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T01:02:19","slug":"two-green-party-candidates-arrested-over-alleged-antisemitic-posts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/559709\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Green Party candidates arrested over alleged antisemitic posts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Two Green Party candidates standing in the upcoming local elections in England have been arrested on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Metropolitan Police said the arrests followed an investigation launched after &#8220;concerns&#8221; were reported on 21 April about &#8220;antisemitic material that had been posted online&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Met said: &#8220;Police have arrested two women, aged 57 and 54, on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred online, an offence under section 19 of the Public Order Act 1986. They remain in police custody.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A Green Party spokesperson said: &#8220;This now a police matter.
