Hull FC<\/a> star make his long-anticipated return to action on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\nThe Black and Whites host Salford Red Devils at the MKM Stadium after a welcome week off, with Pryce, not to mention John Asiata, expected to come back into the side so long as they get through Saturday\u2019s captains’ run.<\/p>\n
The duo still have their final boxes to tick but are set to offer Hull a welcome boost with seven rounds of the regular season to go. And Pryce looks destined to return to what Cartwright has called his best position, with the 22-year-old playing all but one of his Hull appearances at full-back.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the Hull boss has seemingly put to bed any doubts of where he sees Pryce long-term, with the club looking for a new half-back to partner Aidan Sezer. That half-back is Jake Arthur, with Hull understood to be in the driving seat to secure the player, who debuted for Newcastle Knights in the NRL this Friday morning.<\/p>\n
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Cartwright, who will also welcome Ed Chamberlain back, said: “I think long-term Will is going to be our full-back. I think that’s his best position. If we can get him through the week, I’ll talk to the staff about it, but for me, we find a way to put him at full-back. I think that’s when we’re at our best.”<\/p>\n
Pryce\u2019s return could see Zak Hardaker move to centre after playing the last few games at full-back \u2013 especially given Jordan Rapana is ruled out after a failed HIA. And Yusuf Aydin\u2019s role could be straightforward after Liam Knight\u2019s injury, with the forward moving to prop and Asiata, if selected, coming straight into his loose forward role.<\/p>\n
“I’m always of the opinion that if they are fit to play, then they play,” Cartwright continued. “No matter what stage you are in your career, it’s the only way you get your timing, and it’s the only way you get your true fitness and physically make your tackles and get tackled.<\/p>\n
“They play key roles in the team. We could also have players in different roles this week, but we\u2019ve trained accordingly, and we’ve had two weeks to prepare for this mentally and physically; we’ve had a good week, so there are no excuses.”<\/p>\n
And on the week off, which saw Hull\u2019s players given a seven-day break, Cartwright believes it came at the most opportune time.<\/p>\n
“The timing of it was perfect for us,” the head coach said. “We play a really physical, tough game, and generally we get five- or six-day turnarounds.<\/p>\n
“It’s a brutal sport, and because we watch it every week, we sometimes forget how brutal the game is. There are guys that can’t train for weeks on end. Every club is in the game, but the game’s getting faster, harder, and tougher, and when that happens, we’re getting more injuries.”<\/p>\n
He added: “The week off was enjoyable. There’s been no game to worry about and no result to worry about. It’s a good opportunity, and it’s come at a good time for most clubs. It’s a long season, and there are a few bumps and bruises, so it’s just a good chance to get rid of those.<\/p>\n
“I think time away is also a good thing. It’s a tense environment that you work in, and there’s a lot of pressure, so you need some space on occasion. It was just a good chance to give the players a week off.<\/p>\n
“There was rehab going on, and they were given some things to do while they were away just to keep their legs turning over.
