Hollyoaks has set up an emotional exit from the village as Diane Hutchinson’s storyline, which has seen her be diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer, takes another worrying turn following this week’s scenes.

Earlier this week, Diane told Nancy Osborne that doctors had given her less time to live than she initially thought. Later on, she was struck with overwhelming pain in the bath and had to be helped out by her family, and has also been coughing up blood.

In upcoming scenes on the Channel 4 soap, Diane will tell Tony that they need to let Eva know exactly what is going on. The couple also consider telling Diane’s former stepchildren Sinead and Finn O’Connor, who were last seen on the soap in 2019.

Tony suggests that they inform them personally, and convinces her that it could double as a chance to make some final memories with a holiday. Diane reluctantly agrees, though she fears that a trip could be too much for her given her current condition.

Tony later arrives with a wheelchair for Diane to use on the holiday, while she struggles to enjoy her time with Eva. Ro later finds his mum packing and immediately starts to worry, but she insists that it’s just for a surprise family holiday that she’s planning with Tony.

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
