\n Her Royal Highness toured Isle of Wight NHS Trust’s community diagnostic centre, which opened at the end of 2024, in a visit to Newport today.\n<\/p>\n
\n The centre has already delivered activity to the equivalent of around 88 per cent of the Island\u2019s population in its first year of operation.\n<\/p>\n
\n During the visit, the Duchess met staff and heard how the centre is supporting faster diagnoses and reducing the need for residents to travel to the mainland for care.\n<\/p>\n
\n Michelle Stanley, chief strategy officer at Isle of Wight NHS Trust, said: “We were honoured to welcome The Duchess of Gloucester to officially open our community diagnostic centre.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This is a significant milestone for healthcare on the Island.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The centre is already helping people access quicker tests and diagnoses closer to home, and the level of activity we have seen reflects just how important this service is for our community.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The Duchess also visited the Trust\u2019s emergency department, including the children\u2019s emergency department, which has been designed to better meet the needs of young people and families.\n<\/p>\n
\n Steve Parker, medical director at Isle of Wight NHS Trust, said: “Our Emergency Department, including the Children\u2019s Emergency Department, has been designed with both patients and staff in mind.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The dedicated children\u2019s facilities, including sensory and play areas, are particularly important in helping us support young people in what can often be a stressful situation.”\n<\/p>\n
