Gervonta Davis<\/a>\u2019 comeback could soon become clear as \u201creal talks\u201d with an opponent are set to be occurring \u201cvery soon\u201d.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old has not fought since March 2025, when he retained his WBA world lightweight title with a controversial draw against Lamont Roach.<\/a><\/p>\n

Since then, \u2018Tank\u2019 has been made \u2018champion in recess\u2019 by the WBA, largely because of his inactivity but also due to allegations of domestic violence.<\/p>\n

Such accusations, which were made by his ex-partner, Courtney Rossel, resulted in Davis being removed from his cancelled exhibition match with Jake Paul last November.<\/p>\n

More recently, though, the Baltimore man has teased a ring return, naming Isaac \u2018Pitbull\u2019 Cruz \u2013 who he unanimously outpointed in 2021 \u2013 as a possible opponent at 140lbs.<\/p>\n

If, however, he wishes to reclaim his old WBA title, then Davis will likely be ordered to face the sanctioning body\u2019s No.1 contender at 135lbs, Floyd Schofield.<\/p>\n

In pursuit of the \u2018Tank\u2019 fight, the father and trainer of \u2018Kid Austin\u2019, Schofield Sr, has claimed there are ongoing talks for the pair to collide in July<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Golden Boy boss Oscar De La Hoya has confirmed those talks in media huddle with Fight Hub TV<\/a>, but also debated whether the 23-year-old, who he promotes, is ready for such a formidable challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be real talks happening very soon. If \u2018Kid Austin\u2019 wants to go after \u2018Tank\u2019 then, me as a promoter, [that\u2019s] what I have to get him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a promoter, I still feel that I would give him one more fight and then go after \u2018Tank\u2019. But, if he wants it right away \u2013 let\u2019s go.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t be the right decision in my eyes, but if the father and the kid want it, then that\u2019s what I\u2019ll have to push for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure exactly what \u2018Tank\u2019 Davis is doing, but I did hear he does want to fight in the third quarter of this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
