I think there\u2019s a place for it in the ecosystem and I want to continue to grow the game across the world. That\u2019s always been our mission and it\u2019s never been more true than now.\u201d<\/p>\n
LIV is even working on a junior golf initiative, \u200baccording to DeChambeau. \u201cWe\u2019re building a bunch of junior golf events right now and each [LIV] team is looking to build junior golf \u200bacademies,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s something that we\u2019ve been working on for almost three or four months now. We\u2019re looking to host an event here coming up, probably in the next, I\u2019d say, couple of months.\u201d<\/p>\n
In June 2022, DeChambeau joined LIV on a reported $125m contract that is set \u200bto expire at the end of this season. He was reportedly seeking a $500m deal to stay with LIV before \u200bthe league\u2019s funding problems were revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still working on a potential contract,\u201d DeChambeau said. \u201cI haven\u2019t given up on that and I think there \u200cwill \u2060be a solution. But as of right now, my job is to help make the league work after this year. I just feel like I have a responsibility. I\u2019ve put a lot of effort into it. So that\u2019s what I\u2019m going to do, we\u2019re going to make this work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even with reports that LIV has increased revenue streams in its five years of operation, \u200bit is likely nowhere near \u200benough to fund the league \u2060as it had been operating in its early years. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of moving parts like in any business,\u201d DeChambeau told Flushing It Golf after he withdrew from last month\u2019s event \u200bin Mexico City.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a startup, right? And so there\u2019s going to be times where we\u2019re \u200bsqueezed and punched. \u2060This is one of those moments.
