Four people are in hospital \u2013 one in a life-threatening condition \u2013 after multiple shots were fired from a vehicle in Brixton, south London. <\/p>\n
Police were called around 1.15am on Saturday, May 2, following reports of a shooting on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.<\/p>\n
Officers were on the scene within four minutes and provided emergency first aid alongside the London Ambulance Service. <\/p>\n
Four people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds \u2013 one of whom, a 25-year-old man, remains in a life-threatening condition. <\/p>\n

Three others \u2013 aged 21, 47 and 70 \u2013 have been assessed and their injuries have been deemed not life-threatening or life-changing. <\/p>\n
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said that two people were taken to a major trauma centre and the other two to a local hospital, with a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance joining ambulance crews.<\/p>\n
Several police officers could be seen searching an area of grass outside the Southwyck House estate, on Coldharbour Lane, on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n
A resident of the estate said he believed the incident took place during a barbecue party on the patch of green, while a shop worker told of providing shelter to people in the wake of gunshots.<\/p>\n

Moh John, 45, who works at supermarket Payless Food & Wine outside Southwyck House estate, said: \u201cI was putting something there and I heard the noises.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was busy, there was a party. I saw the people run away. But then I saw the people, some people try to come in the shop and I locked the door.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said those rushing inside the supermarket were \u201cscared\u201d, adding he kept the front door locked for \u201csome time\u201d before he re-opened it.\u201d<\/p>\n
No arrests have been made yet and detectives are appealing for help from the public to find those responsible for the shooting.<\/p>\n
Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said: \u201cWe understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that could assist the investigation, comes forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. If you have any concerns, please speak to officers.<\/p>\n
