\n The 30 students from Bradford College spent 13 days in the US exploring the world of science and engineering, including visits to NASA\u2019s Johnson Space Center in Houston and the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando.\n<\/p>\n
\n Andrew Ridley-Ellis, head of science and academic support for science and digital at Bradford College, said: “This brilliant group of young people had experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime.\n<\/p>\n
\n “From meeting real astronauts who were testing spacesuits and training in zero-gravity, to seeing scientists working on the commercial space station that will follow the ISS, this trip was truly transformational.”\n<\/p>\n

\n The visit was funded by the Turing Scheme and included hands-on, team-based activities such as building and launching two-stage rockets, programming space rovers, and designing Mars habitats.\n<\/p>\n
\n Students also took part in a scuba diving session in a specially designed pool to simulate weightlessness, conducting underwater robotic surveys that mimicked working on the moon\u2019s surface.\n<\/p>\n
\n The trip concluded with time at the Starship Gallery, a talk from astronaut Commander Ken Cameron, and a team medal ceremony.\n<\/p>\n
\n Students also took part in creek netting, alligator handling, and a bayou safari before heading to Orlando for a specialist STEM education programme at Universal Studios Florida.\n<\/p>\n
\n Student Rahees said: “I learned how to properly communicate ideas with my team clearly and effectively while also learning how to collaborate with them and branch myself out socially, which I would not have done if I did not go.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The programme ended at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where students experienced a simulated shuttle launch.\n<\/p>\n
\n They were taken just nine miles from the launch site to witness the Artemis II rocket take-off in person.\n<\/p>\n
\n Student Ali said: “When I left to go to USA, it helped me experience a once-in-a-life opportunity and gave me chance to see Artemis II.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It also helped me explore different opportunities, if I want to go into that side of work, and experience the differences in other culture and lifestyles.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Ridley-Ellis said the students, aged 16 to 21, spent months preparing for the trip, including learning about laws and culture.\n<\/p>\n
\n He said: “Seeing these students blossom over the two weeks was so rewarding.\n<\/p>\n
