Serena Williams\u2019 former coach has made a bold claim about the US Open, hinting at a potential return to action for his old student.<\/p>\n

And, if it were to occur, what better event than the one she won six times in singles, and a further two times in the ladies\u2019 doubles too.<\/p>\n

At this point, this is all hypothetical. There has been no suggestion that Serena Williams<\/a> will be coming out of retirement to play with her sister, who has made a return to the WTA Tour in recent months.<\/p>\n

Whilst Venus Williams\u2019<\/a> desire to keep playing burns on, it remains to be seen whether her sister feels the same.<\/p>\n

However, Rick Macci has now stated what he\u2019s almost certain would happen if the two did unite for one last dance in New York.<\/p>\n

Serena Williams\u2019 former coach hints at US Open doubles partnership<\/p>\n

Taking to X, he has hinted at Serena\u2019s potential re-emergence from retirement a few times before, but seemingly with no inside knowledge.<\/p>\n

He is merely speaking as a fan of one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, praying that the unthinkable could possibly occur.<\/p>\n

After all, Serena has been pictured hitting since her departure from the sport in 2022, as recently as July.<\/p>\n

This naturally sent fans into a frenzy, with Macci just another tennis supporter who would obviously love to\u00a0see this superstar return.<\/p>\n

And now, he has made a claim about what he\u2019s certain would happen at the US Open<\/a> if they did play together come the end of this month.<\/p>\n

What did Venus Williams say about Serena Williams coming out of retirement?<\/p>\n

With Venus Williams having been granted wildcards into Washington and Cincinnati<\/a>, she is well and truly back for the North American swing of the tour.<\/p>\n

And, given her legendary status, she would likely be granted entry into any event she wanted.<\/p>\n

Speaking during her official comeback event, after over a year out of the game, somehow the topic of Serena cropped up.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, she did not rule out the possibility of a comeback, telling the press: \u201cI keep saying to my team: The only thing that would make this better is if she was here.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then joked: \u201cLike, we always did everything together, so of course I miss her. But if she comes back, I\u2019m sure she\u2019ll let y\u2019all know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Venus finished by reiterating just how good Serena remains even to this day, concluding by stating: \u201cShe can take six months off and she clocks it clean. You can\u2019t teach that kind of talent. She\u2019s just so good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perhaps Macci knows something we don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
