\n The 2026 Tour de Furness will begin and end at Furness Academy in Barrow, having previously set off from Roose Sports and Social Club.\n<\/p>\n
\n Organised by the Rotary Club of Furness, the ride will take place on Sunday, June 28.\n<\/p>\n
\n Brian Boyd, event organiser, said: “On completion of the ride and return to Furness Academy, all participants will be presented with a commemorative newly struck medal, a certificate, and free refreshments.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Now in its 31st year, the event has raised more than \u00a3500,000 for local charities.\n<\/p>\n
\n St Mary’s Hospice will once again be the main beneficiary, though riders are welcome to raise funds for any charity of their choice.\n<\/p>\n
\n The event is supported by volunteers representing local organisations, whose help is essential to its continued success.\n<\/p>\n
\n Cyclists of all abilities can choose from four routes: 14, 28, 53, and 74 miles.\n<\/p>\n
\n The new 74-mile option includes part of the 53-mile route and stretches from Barrow to Coniston before looping back.\n<\/p>\n
\n Seasoned riders will face a tough challenge as the 74-mile circuit takes in the formidable Wrynose Pass\u2014a feature also found in the Fred Whitton Challenge.\n<\/p>\n
\n The shorter 14 and 28-mile rides meander through the quieter country lanes of the South Lakes, offering a safe and scenic route away from main roads.\n<\/p>\n
\n Refreshments will be provided at checkpoints along each route.\n<\/p>\n
\n While the ride is not a race, times will be recorded for all participants.\n<\/p>\n
