DWP change to Universal Credit, PIP, state pension hits tomorrow<\/p>\n

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is making a change to benefits this week – with payments not landing on Monday as expected. The DWP<\/a> has brought forward the payment date for some key benefits.<\/p>\n

It includes Universal Credit<\/a>, Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and the state pension. Owing to the forthcoming May bank holiday, which falls on Monday, May 4, the DWP has instead paid claimants the previous working day.<\/p>\n

It means if you are due a benefit payment on Monday, May 4, you should have received your payment on Friday, May 1 instead. It’s worth checking your bank accounts and statements for a Friday morning payment.<\/p>\n

There is also a second bank holiday in May which falls on Monday, May 25. Because of this, you will be paid early if you are due a payment on this date. Benefits should be paid on Friday, May 22 instead.<\/p>\n

If you think you haven’t been paid, first make sure you double check your bank account.<\/p>\n

If you’ve got the right payment date, and the money isn’t there, you should contact the relevant helpline.<\/p>\n

Universal Credit claimants can call 0800 328 5644, while HMRC Child Benefit claimants can call 0300 200 3100<\/p>\n
