Hull FC interim head coach Andy Last has confirmed that the full-back starting role is Logan Moy\u2019s shirt to lose, with high praise piled on the 20-year-old.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been two years since Moy debuted with the full-back one of several academy players thrust into the squad during their torrid 2024 season, with Moy making 16 of his 30 Hull FC<\/a> appearances to date during that campaign.<\/p>\n

He\u2019d spend time away from the club on loan in 2025 whilst also racking up 10 appearances for the Black and Whites but he\u2019s now starting to find his feet as a starter amid the injury to Will Pryce<\/a>, with Moy set for his fifth consecutive start.<\/p>\n

Speaking mid-week in a presser shared to the club\u2019s YouTube channel<\/a>, Last was asked if it\u2019s Moy\u2019s \u2018shirt to lose\u2019, with the Hull FC boss agreeing: \u201cYeah, it certainly is. He\u2019s played exceptionally well has Logan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the new rules have certainly suited Logan\u2019s strengths. He\u2019s very good at challenging the big blokes, who are slightly fatigued, down the middle of the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s brave, he\u2019s worked extremely hard under the high ball and he\u2019s safe under those high balls. Although he\u2019s a little bit shorter, he gets off the ground well and knows how to come up with the ball when challenged.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s done a really really good job and he\u2019s a good kid. He wants to get better and he\u2019s constantly asking the right questions and he\u2019s diligent in his preparation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last would admit that Moy\u2019s trial by fire in 2024 was a case of too much too soon for a young player, as he explained:\u00a0 \u201cHe probably physically wasn\u2019t quite ready but he\u2019s got a big heart and he challenges players who are physically bigger than him with his tenacity and his energy, and the speed he goes at.\u201d<\/p>\n

That big heart and bravery was something Last would note again when asked if he could compare Moy to a Hull FC full-back of old, to which he offered two names.<\/p>\n

Last pondered on the question before stating: \u201cBravery-wise, he\u2019s like Motu Tony. He carries the ball back well, Motu wasn\u2019t the biggest but very very brave.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd one who was a close friend of mine, we unfortunately lost him to illness, is Steve Prescott. He\u2019s of that mould, he\u2019s not the biggest but brave, he gets on the end of things and supports well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he has a similar sort of career to Precky then I think Logan will have had a very good career in the black and white.\u201d<\/p>\n

Such high praise won\u2019t go unnoticed and that saw Last joke about what it may do for the 20-year-old, as he laughed: \u201cHe might be 10 foot tall by the time he comes out. He\u2019s had plenty of praise, so hopefully we\u2019ve got a giant at the back rather than a little David. We\u2019ve got Goliath. Hopefully it has its desired effect.\u201d<\/p>\n
