Hull FC failed to move into the top half of the Betfred Super League table after suffering a disappointing 12-4 defeat to Toulouse.<\/p>\n

Interim boss Andy Last hoped to capitalise on the win they secured against Castleford Tigers in his first match in charge since becoming caretaker for a second time.<\/p>\n

Instead, they slipped to a Toulouse side who had suffered seven straight league defeats before their trip to the MKM Stadium.<\/p>\n

The visitors scored two tries within the first 10 minutes, the first via Olly Ashall-Bott just five minutes in.<\/p>\n

Joe Cator added a second four minutes later, and Jake Shorrocks successfully booted the extras for a second time.<\/p>\n

Tom Briscoe got Hull on the board with nine minutes remaining in the first half, but they could not claw back any more points after Zak Hardaker missed the conversion.<\/p>\n

A more determined Hull emerged in the second half, when they forced the French side to defend resolutely against waves of attack, but could never find the breakthrough.<\/p>\n

Ashall-Bott ensured the hosts would not narrow the gap with a brilliant clearance under the posts with 15 minutes remaining.<\/p>\n
