The proposal<\/a> included alterations to provide safer access off Greenway Lane along with parking and turning areas for each home.\n<\/p>\n\n A mixture of three-bed and four-bed detached and semi-detached properties were also expected on the site.\n<\/p>\n
\n A planning statement said: “The initial layout allows for generous plots allowing for [future plans] to create a high-quality design in keeping with the surroundings.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The statement added that the plans would help the council meet the region’s housing needs.\n<\/p>\n
\n A number of objections were raised by neighbours, with concerns over highway safety and drainage issues.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\n One person said: “There are already bottlenecks during peak times at the junction of Jubilee Avenue. It is not difficult to envisage the resultant bottleneck from 2\/3 cars stacking trying to access the subject site whilst a vehicle is trying to exit.”\n<\/p>\n
\n “The narrow driveway design is insufficient to cope with the anticipated traffic flows.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Another neighbour commented: “The development of the site would reduce the capacity for the ground on the site to soak up rainfall, leading to additional run-off which would exacerbate drainage issues.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The additional eight dwellings would also place further strain on the sewage and drainage infrastructure.”\n<\/p>\n
