Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) boss Pat McFadden has confirmed an extra \u00a345 for state pensioners.<\/a> The full rate of the new State Pension will increase by 4.8% in line with the increase in average earnings from \u00a3230.25 to \u00a3241.30 a week.<\/p>\n

The full basic State Pension will increase from \u00a3176.45 to \u00a3184.90 a week. The \u00a311.05 hike to the new state pension works out at a cool \u00a345 for state pensioners.<\/p>\n

Labour Party cabinet minister McFadden said:<\/a> ” I know global shocks, and the effects they have on our living costs, will be increasing anxiety for many households. This government will always protect our pensioners, and that\u2019s why we are raising the full rate of new State Pension by up to \u00a3575 this coming year.”<\/p>\n

Minister for Pensions Torsten Bell said: ” After a lifetime of work and contribution, people deserve a decent retirement. Raising the State Pensions faster than prices, ensuring it is a pension they can rely on, is how we make that a reality for millions.”<\/p>\n

After you\u2019ve claimed your State Pension you\u2019ll get a letter about your payments. The new State Pension is usually paid into your account every 4 weeks. If you want to change the account, tell the Pension Service.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll be asked when you want to start getting your State Pension when you claim. Your first payment will be no later than 5 weeks after the date you choose.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll get a full payment every 4 weeks after that. You might get part of a payment before your first full payment.<\/p>\n

The letter confirming your State Pension payment will tell you what to expect. The day your pension is paid depends on your National Insurance number.<\/p>\n

You might be paid earlier if your normal payment day is a bank holiday.
