THE RUNDOWN

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry didn’t make their Met Gala debut tonight. They spent their evening out of the public eye, keeping their whereabouts private. The couple recently completed a four-day tour of Australia together.

Neither Meghan Markle nor Prince Harry has ever attended the Met Gala, and tonight, the couple remained out of the public eye. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex weren’t seen on the red carpet of the New York City event. They also weren’t photographed out today, spending their Met Monday in private.

Last month, Meghan and Harry embarked on a four-day tour of Australia, where the couple visited a wide span of places, from the Royal Children’s Hospital to Scar Tree Walk. Meghan even stopped by the set of MasterChef Australia and taped an episode, where she’ll appear as a guest judge.

In November, Meghan spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about how she approaches work—and how important consistency is to her. “When people start to see your work ethic and really understand how dedicated you are to things—how you are in one place, I believe, is how you are in other places,” she said. “So for me, that’s how I show up when I do potlucks at my kids’ school, that’s how I show up when putting a party together for my friend who just had a baby, that’s how I show up in my business.”

She also discussed making mistakes, saying they are necessary for growth. “If it all goes swimmingly, you don’t learn from it,” she said. “If you don’t learn anything, you’re not going to grow. I’m a mom with kids at that age where they are constantly learning something new. I watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day. But you can remember and say, ‘I know it seems really hard right now, but trust me, that’s going to come so easily soon.’ I can give myself the same grace as a founder. There’s no such thing as perfect. I, too, get to make mistakes. There’s also not a lot of fun in trying to be perfect. So why try to do that if you want to have fun?”
