An arrangement has been made for the amazing sculpture to stay at the Minster a little longer\"HELIOS<\/p>\n

A giant Sun sculpture that has been shining bright at Grimsby <\/a>Minster for the past month will now be glowing for an extra week. The eye-catching seven-metre replica by British artist Luke Jerram arrived in town in early April.<\/p>\n

However, though the last day before the Sun set was planned to be on May 4, arts organisation The Culture House has arranged with the creator for Helios to stay in place until this Sunday (May 10). Since opening on April 9<\/a>, Helios \u2013 sponsored by \u00d8rsted, AP Robinson and RSUK Group – has attracted thousands of visitors, who have been enjoying its glow as well as an array of additional events and activities, including live music, sunset yoga, children\u2019s eco activities and more.<\/p>\n

Charlotte Bowen, Culture House director, said: \u201cThe past few weeks have been absolutely amazing for Grimsby as we\u2019ve hosted this world-touring artwork in the Minster, attracting thousands of visitors and audiences for events. It\u2019s been extremely positive and there\u2019s been such good feedback.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Culture House has hosted 22 events and activities around the installation as we\u2019ve shined a spotlight on the area and on local talent and creativity, while bringing national artists and performers to town and providing opportunities for young people to get creative while considering the world around them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t quite ready for the sun to go down and Luke Jerram generously agreed Helios could shine in Grimsby for another week\u201d.<\/p>\n

Helios can be enjoyed Tuesday to Friday 9.30am – 2.30pm, Saturday 9.30am – 1.30pm and Sunday 1pm – 4pm. Bookings now aren\u2019t necessary.<\/p>\n
