Former Hull KR star Jordan Abdull has secured a permanent move away from Widnes Vikings in a cross-Championship switch that has seen him sign a long-term deal.<\/p>\n

Abdull played his best rugby at Hull KR but made the loan switch to Catalans Dragons ahead of the 2024 season but he\u2019d only play a year in Perpignan before joining Rovers\u2019 rivals Hull FC.<\/p>\n

There, he wouldn\u2019t play a single game and was eventually released<\/a> before signing with Widnes Vikings<\/a> in the Championship, however, he was recently loaned out to Sheffield Eagles.<\/p>\n

To date, Abdull has played just one game for Craig Lingard\u2019s side but he made it a try-scoring debut and Sheffield will be hoping there are plenty more tries to come as the 30-year-old has now signed a permanent deal with the Yorkshire club.<\/p>\n

A statement from Widnes confirmed that Abdull\u2019s loan move had become a permanent one with the Vikings releasing the former Hull KR man so that he could secure more playing time.<\/p>\n

Head coach Allan Coleman said: We would like to thank Jordan for his services to the club and wish him the best of luck for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great to see him back playing: we couldn\u2019t guarantee him regular game time, and hopefully he\u2019s got a club now where he can focus on that and play on a regular basis.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jordan Abdull signs for Sheffield Eagles<\/p>\n

Sheffield Eagles also released a statement to confirm Abdull\u2019s signing with the 30-year-old penning a two-and-a-half year deal, meaning he\u2019s contracted until the end of the 2028 season.<\/p>\n

A statement from the Eagles confirmed: \u201cSheffield Eagles are pleased to confirm the permanent signing of half-back Jordan Abdull from Widnes Vikings on a two-and-a-half-year deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 30-year-old initially joined the Eagles on a one-month loan just two weeks ago and made an immediate impact, scoring a try and earning Player of the Match on his debut against Salford R.L.F.C.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdull missed Sheffield\u2019s most recent game on account of the fact the Eagles were playing Widnes, however, with the deal now permanent both club and player are excited to see how far the former Super League man can go.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy to get it sorted. Widnes have allowed me to take this opportunity, so I\u2019d like to thank them first and foremost,\u201d Abdull said.<\/p>\n

\u201cComing back this year was all about playing as much as I can, and Sheffield have given me that opportunity, something I\u2019m grateful for.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the next couple of years, I\u2019ll be trying my best to guide the team around the field, but in the short term, I\u2019m really looking forward to building some connections with the team, and the fans too.\u201d<\/p>\n
