{"id":57168,"date":"2025-08-10T14:09:06","date_gmt":"2025-08-10T14:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/57168\/"},"modified":"2025-08-10T14:09:06","modified_gmt":"2025-08-10T14:09:06","slug":"manny-pacquiao-trainer-freddie-roach-says-only-one-fighter-is-more-talented-and-gifted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/57168\/","title":{"rendered":"Manny Pacquiao Trainer Freddie Roach Says Only One Fighter Is &#8216;More Talented And Gifted&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fighter-trainer partnership between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/manny-pacquiao\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manny Pacquiao<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/freddie-roach\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Freddie Roach<\/a> is widely considered to be one of the most iconic in boxing history.<\/p>\n<p>Roach and Filipino icon Pacquiao linked up for the very first time back in 2002 and would go on to work alongside each other for 16 years before they split back in 2018 after a successful 34-fight run. <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/post\/manny-pacquiaos-comeback-falls-short-mario-barrios-retains-wbc-welterweight-title-majority-draw\/17205475\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The pair reunited this year for Pacquiao\u2019s comeback title fight against Mario Barrios, which ended in a majority draw.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Working out of the world famous Wildcard Boxing Gym in Los Angeles, California, Roach guided Pacquiao through the prime of his career where he racked up a number of legacy defining victories over the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Timothy Bradley and Oscar De La Hoya to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the incredible moments that they shared, Roach once revealed in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qgR2nz5neo0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fight Hub TV<\/a> that whilst he \u2018learned a lot\u2019 from Pacquiao, there was just one man that had more talent than the Filipino superstar \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secondsout.com\/topic\/james-toney\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James Toney<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, Pacquiao I learned a lot from, he\u2019s made me a better trainer because he can do things that not everybody can do. But the most talented, gifted athlete I\u2019ve ever trained is James Toney. He had something you couldn\u2019t teach.
