An ongoing bug with Android XR has left Samsung\u2019s Galaxy XR headsets in rough shape, with serious performance issues that Google is now rolling out a fix for.<\/p>\n
Update 5\/7: Google has confirmed a fix is now rolling out. Update vI610UEU2AZD8 is rolling out to Galaxy XR now and, with it, \u201ca series of system stability and performance optimizations\u201d as Google explains<\/a>. Early reactions to the update seem<\/a> to prove that Google\u2019s fix did the trick, with the headset performing \u201csmoother<\/a>,\u201d but crashes are still<\/a> apparently happening. <\/p>\n Our original coverage follows.<\/p>\n Reports from Samsung Galaxy XR owners on Reddit<\/a> have pinpointed some serious performance issues that leave the headsets, as described <\/a>by one user, \u201cfunctionally useless.\u201d Framerates within apps and the general UI slow to a crawl, if the headset doesn\u2019t freeze entirely.<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n Users have noticed<\/a> that the problem is related to a memory leak.<\/p>\n Google has confirmed it is aware of the issue, with Grace, a Community Engagement Manager, explaining:<\/p>\n Hey everyone, I\u2019ve been following the comments here and I want to acknowledge your concerns. It is clear that the current experience is not meeting expectations, and I fully understand your frustration.<\/p>\n The team is fully aware of this issue and we have made getting a patch out to everyone our absolute top priority. I will post an update as soon as we have a concrete timeline for the fix.
