A Labour MP demanded Sir Keir Starmer quit after a \u201cterrible\u201d set of local election results.<\/p>\n
Hartlepool\u2019s Jonathan Brash, whose wife Pamela Hargreaves lost to Reform, said: \u201cI\u2019m looking for change at the top of the Labour Party.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s clear to me that the Prime Minister should take this opportunity to set out a timetable for his own departure, and then allow for the widest possible leadership election that includes all the talents of our party.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere should be no blocking of any candidate from coming to the PLP (Parliamentary Labour Party) if they feel they\u2019ve got something to offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs you can imagine, I\u2019m really angry about tonight, because Labour politicians are delivering really big things, but we need a leadership of the party that is on the side of the British people.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we\u2019ve been too timid. We\u2019ve got a huge majority. We can do absolutely anything we want to transform this country and make people\u2019s lives better. We\u2019ve done some great things so far, but it\u2019s not enough.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to be bolder, and we have to go further. And quite frankly, we need new leadership in order to achieve that.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThe results are terrible. It\u2019s devastating for Hartlepool. It\u2019s a terrible night.<\/p>\n
