Gwyneth Paltrow is facing online backlash after comments she made about Silicon Valley and its powerful tech figures during a recent podcast episode.<\/p>\n

Paltrow appeared on The Goop Podcast on May 5 in an episode titled \u201cThe State of Silicon Valley,\u201d which also featured tech journalist Kara Swisher. During their discussion, she questioned how modern culture has shifted toward concentrating power and influence in the hands of a small group of wealthy tech leaders.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cHow did we get here as a culture? Obviously, there\u2019s so much revenue and profit driving this whole thing. That\u2019s at the heart of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paltrow then raised concerns about influence and responsibility in the tech world. She added, \u201cBut how do you think we got to this place in culture where nothing matters and now all that matters is kind of these super rich white dudes who are breaking rules, setting rules, seemingly not caring so much about the downstream impact on everything, from health to culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kara Swisher responded during the episode by discussing how society tends to idolize wealth and innovation. She argued that powerful tech figures often benefit from public investment and long-term government support, especially in areas like the internet and space technology.<\/p>\n

Swisher said<\/a>, \u201cThe Internet was invented by the United States government, not them.\u201d She also questioned why such a small group of people has so much influence over global systems and decisions.<\/p>\n

While the conversation touched on wider cultural and economic issues, attention quickly shifted online to Paltrow\u2019s wording, especially her reference to \u201csuper rich white dudes.\u201d Many users on social media criticized the comment, pointing out what they saw as irony given Paltrow\u2019s own wealth and lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Some users noted her personal background and business success. One comment read, \u201cYour net worth is 200 million\u2026\u201d Another said, \u201cGwyneth you are these people. Raised wealthy. Married wealthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others focused on her brand, Goop, which is known for luxury wellness products. One user wrote, \u201cWhat does Goop charge for makeup?\u201d while another said, \u201cThis is quite ironic when both of these people are surrounded with wealth.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far, Paltrow has not publicly responded to the criticism.<\/p>\n
