Elunend Morgan, the Welsh first minister, lost her seat<\/p>\n

It has been a while since we took a look at what is
\nhappening elsewhere in the UK, so let\u2019s go around the grounds, so to speak.<\/p>\n

In Wales, the Labour first minister has lost her seat<\/a>, with Plaid
\nCymru now expected to be the largest party in the Senedd.<\/p>\n

Eluned Morgan, who will step down as the party’s leader, dropped to fourth in Ceredigion Penfro, behind
\nPlaid, Reform UK and the Conservatives \u2013 becoming the first leader of a
\ngovernment in the UK to lose their seat while in office.<\/p>\n

Polling expert Prof John Curtice said it was unlikely that Plaid
\nwould reach the 49 seats needed for a majority, but they \u201cmay not be far away\u201d.<\/p>\n

Current predictions put them at between 41 and 46, with Reform
\ntaking between 32 and 34 seats.<\/p>\n

In England, meanwhile, Reform have gained more than 900 new
\ncouncillors and control of six new councils, including Sunderland in the north
\neast and Havering in London.<\/p>\n

Labour have lost more than 700 councillors and control of 15
\ncouncils. <\/p>\n

The Greens have also picked up two mayoral votes, in
