height: auto; display: block;\" loading=\"eager\" fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"852\" height=\"479\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/parametricism-guide-hero_dezeen_2364_col_0-1-852x479.jpg\" class=\"attachment-article_large_image size-article_large_image nolazy\" alt=\"parametricism comments update\" decoding=\"async\"  data-pin-nopin=\"true\"\/>    <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/this-week-on-dezeen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">This week on Dezeen<\/a>, we kicked off our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/parametricism\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Parametricism series<\/a>, which explores a theory of architecture that lays claim to becoming the defining style of the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p>Architectural writer Owen Hopkins introduced the series in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/parametricism-introduction-owen-hopkins\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an overview of parametricism<\/a>, which he called &#8220;the architecture of liberalism itself&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/06\/parametricism-simple-guide\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">simple guide to parametricism<\/a> explored the notoriously complex concept, while an interview with the man who coined the term, architect Patrik Schumacher, revealed that he is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/07\/patrik-schumacher-parametricism-interview\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;not happy&#8221; with how fast the style is being adopted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/iris-van-herpen-met-gala-dress-15000-glass-bubbles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2324839 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/airo-dress-iris-van-herpen-aa-murakami-met-gala-2026-fashion_dezeen_2364_col_hero-1-852x479.jpg\" alt=\"Bubble dress\" width=\"1704\" height=\"958\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/iris-van-herpen-met-gala-dress-15000-glass-bubbles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A dress made from bubbles was seen at the Met Gala<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fashion designer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/iris-van-herpen-met-gala-dress-15000-glass-bubbles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Iris van Herpen created a &#8220;dissolving&#8221; dress<\/a>, made out of 15,000 bubble-like glass spheres combined with hidden microprocessors that emitted real bubbles.<\/p>\n<p>The striking creation was worn by Olympic athlete Eileen Gu at this year&#8217;s Met Gala, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/peterson-rich-office-met-galleries\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">which was held in the Cond\u00e9 M Nast galleries<\/a> designed by Brooklyn-based architecture studio Peterson Rich Office.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/02\/favourite-furniture-lighting-milan-design-week-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2317394 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ikea-ps-2026-lamp-lex-pott_dezeen_2364_hero_14.jpg\" alt=\"PS 2026 Lamp by Lex Pott\" width=\"1928\" height=\"1085\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/02\/favourite-furniture-lighting-milan-design-week-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">An IKEA lamp with an adaptable shape was among the Milan favourites<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With Milan design week having come to an end, the Dezeen team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/02\/favourite-furniture-lighting-milan-design-week-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rounded up its favourite furniture and lighting designs<\/a> from the event \u2013 including anthropomorphic lamps and a pillowy PVC coffee table.<\/p>\n<p>Architect Toyo Ito chose his favourite projects from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/toyo-ito-favourite-projects-andrea-branzi-continuous-present\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an exhibition about designer Andrea Branzi<\/a> that was on during the design week, and we looked at an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/08\/objects-speak-andrea-branzi-lamp-milan-design-week\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">installation of Branzi&#8217;s lamps at the Rosewood hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/trump-tower-tbilisi-georgia-design-revelaed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2324471 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/trump-tower-tbilisi-georgia-gensler_dezeen_2364_hero-1-852x479.jpg\" alt=\"Trump Tower Tbilisi Georgia Gensler comments update\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1330\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/trump-tower-tbilisi-georgia-design-revelaed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gensler&#8217;s design for the Trump Tower skyscraper in Georgia was revealed<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Architecture studio Gensler unveiled its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/05\/trump-tower-tbilisi-georgia-design-revelaed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">design for a Trump Tower in Tbilisi, Georgia<\/a>, which will comprise &#8220;six architecturally distinctive towers&#8221;. Among them is a 70-storey skyscraper that is set to be the tallest in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In other skyscraper news, the rocket-like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/05\/06\/mohammed-vi-tower-morocco-tallest-building-rafael-de-la%E2%80%91hoz-hakim-benjelloun\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mohammed VI Tower has become Morocco&#8217;s tallest skyscraper<\/a> at 250 metres tall.
