Leanne Battersby<\/a> (Jane Danson<\/a>) is a Coronation Street<\/a> icon, having been a familiar face on the cobbles since 1997.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, she hasn\u2019t been very lucky in love during that time \u2013 but that could be set to change.<\/p>\n Executive Producer Kate Brooks<\/a> has revealed a brand new love interest for the soap stalwart, and he is connected to Alya Nazir<\/a> (Sair Khan<\/a>).<\/p>\n \u2018We have Idris. He\u2019s Alya\u2019s cousin. He is very, very charming. The charm oozes out of every pore of this guy,\u2019 Kate teased. <\/p>\n \u2018He\u2019s a savvy kind of business guy, he\u2019s got a bit of a ruthless streak, he\u2019s not ready to get his hands dirty slightly, but he can charm the birds from the trees.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t Leanne has been known to fall for charm in the past, having previously been won over by cult leader Rowan<\/a>.<\/p>\n Her involvement with The Institute led to the end of her relationship with childhood sweetheart Nick Tilsley<\/a> (Ben Price<\/a>), who broke her heart by cheating on her with sister Toyah Battersby<\/a> (Georgia Taylor).<\/p>\n Nick and Leanne had an on-and-off relationship for decades, and were even married for some of that time.<\/p>\n Away from Nick, Leanne has had relationships with Peter Barlow, Jamie Baldwin and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), among others.<\/p>\n \t\t And now, it seems that Idris will be the next man to catch her eye.<\/p>\n \u2018He\u2019s a new love interest for Leanne,\u2019 Kate explained. \u2018The attraction is instantaneous. It gives Leanne a new lease of life. <\/p>\n \u2018She\u2019s been harbouring a deep-rooted resentment towards Toyah and Nick<\/a>, because that\u2019s the life she had. And this guy comes along, he\u2019s got it all, he makes her laugh. He\u2019s funny, he\u2019s a handsome chap, and he ruffles a lot of feathers, but he\u2019s not without an edge.
