Hull KR full-back Arthur Mourgue has revealed what makes Willie Peters such a good coach with his impact assessed, as well as the one key trait that a replacement would need to have.<\/p>\n

Mourgue was brought over early in the 2025 season and quickly established himself as a standout in a Hull KR team that would go on to win the treble with the Frenchman elevating his game at Craven Park.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old ended the 2025 Super League season with just under 3,000 running metres, as well as 16 try contributions and a competition-leading 74 goals.<\/p>\n

Recovering from pec surgery after his World Club Challenge injury<\/a>, Mourgue has appeared on Sky Sports\u2019\u00a0The Bench<\/a>\u00a0podcast where he spoke about the impact that Rovers coach Willie Peters has had on his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cMassive,\u201d the Frenchman said, adding: \u201cFor my whole career I\u2019d had Steve McNamara and he was a good coach but I think at some point as a player, it\u2019s good to see something different.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love to come here and see things I haven\u2019t seen before and play a system I haven\u2019t played.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hull KR full-back shares insight into detail-oriented Willie Peters<\/p>\n

Mourgue has flourished in the system that Peters has created and he\u2019s not the only player with most of the Hull KR side playing their best rugby league under the Australian.<\/p>\n

Asked what the secret to Peters being so good is, Mourgue put it down to the fact that the Hull KR coach leaves no stone unturned when it comes to preparing.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cAll the details. He never leaves something to random. Every detail counts and he\u2019s pushing you to do everything as good as you can and I think you can see that on the field. He never stops.\u201d<\/p>\n

That detailed approach has seen Peters land himself an NRL gig<\/a> with the Australian set to swap Hull KR for the PNG Chiefs at the end of the season, with Mourgue admitting he\u2019s unsure what it will be like at Craven Park when Peters does leave.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know, we\u2019re going to miss him obviously. We don\u2019t know who is going to take over his job. I have no clue (who will take over).\u201d<\/p>\n

On who he would like, Mourgue said:\u00a0\u201cSomeone who can come and do the same as Willie did, just commit and make sure that we keep the standard that we\u2019ve built the last few years.\u201d<\/p>\n
