Greg Davies<\/a> is pretty reserved when it comes to his personal life.<\/p>\n The 57-year-old comedian, who is hosting the 2026 Bafta TV Awards<\/a>, was a high school drama teacher before branching out into stand-up.<\/p>\n He then kick-started his television career in the early 2000s, securing his big break with The Inbetweeners<\/a>, on which he played college head Mr Gilbert<\/a> from 2008 to 2014.<\/p>\n Greg reprised the role several times and, in the years since, has become one of the most beloved personalities in British comedy<\/a>, creating and starring in sitcoms Man Down and The Cleaner and hosting Never Mind the Buzzcocks.<\/p>\n He is also, of course, a presenter on Taskmaster<\/a> and has been for 11 years, with the 21st series airing this April alongside assistant and creator Alex Horne.<\/p>\n So while it may feel like we know him, given that he\u2019s a constant presence on our screens, Greg has only given us tidbits about his love life in the past \u2013 let us revisit them, from his crush on a pop star\u2019s mum to his years-long relationship with a Labour MP.<\/p>\n \t\t From 2007 to 2015, Greg dated Labour politician Liz Kendall. They shared a flat in South London.<\/p>\n The 54-year-old has served as\u00a0Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Technology\u00a0since 2025 and has been the MP for Leicester<\/a> West since 2010.<\/p>\n After their romance ended, she told\u00a0The Mirror<\/a>: \u2018I am not going to be the sort of politician who does all that stuff about their private life because it\u2019s very precious to me and really important to me that I have that space that\u2019s personal and just to me. <\/p>\n \u2018We are not together anymore, but we remain really good friends.\u2019<\/p>\n She and Greg split a few months before the 2015 general election.<\/p>\n \t\t While Greg has remained tight-lipped about their long-term relationship, he did include an anecdote in one of his live shows about an embarrassing accidental phone<\/a> call he made to her years after their breakup \u2013 because he dropped his phone down his pants. <\/p>\n \u2018And it was such an awkward conversation, because we hadn\u2019t spoken for so long, and it just made me laugh as a story,\u2019 he said in an interview with The Times<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n \u2018She thought it was hilarious,\u2019 he added, revealing she approved when he sought permission to tell the tale on stage. \u2018So not for any meaningful reason did I speak about her for the first time. <\/p>\n \u2018We\u2019ve moved on now. She is no longer part of my life and vice versa.\u2019<\/p>\n Blue Peter presenter crush<\/p>\n OK, he didn\u2019t date this person, but Greg probably wishes otherwise.<\/p>\n \t\t During a 2023 interview with OK!<\/a>, Greg admitted that he had a\u00a0\u2018terrible\u2019\u00a0crush on children\u2019s TV\u00a0presenter Janet Ellis, who hosted Blue Peter and Jigsaw. She\u2019s also the mother of Sophie Ellis-Bextor.<\/p>\n Recalling one time they met, he said: \u2018I met Janet Ellis once in a fish and chip shop. I used to have a terrible crush on her all throughout my childhood. <\/p>\n \u2018Then I finally met her and said something humiliating, I think chips-based, that guaranteed I would never end up in the relationship I craved.\u2019<\/p>\n Greg met her Murder on the Dancefloor hitmaker daughter later down the line, and confessed that he \u2018fancied her mum\u2019.<\/p>\n \u2018She rolled her eyes and said, \u201cEveryone does\u201d.\u2019<\/p>\n The ex who pushed him to pursue comedy<\/p>\n \t\t While they are no longer together, Greg has credited an ex-girlfriend for inspiring his career switch from education to comedy.<\/p>\n In 2020, he recalled how he\u2019d always had the urge to venture into comedy but feared being unable to handle criticism.<\/p>\n Thankfully, his then-girlfriend encouraged him to give it a go, and, well, the rest is history!<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019ve been doing comedy for about 15 years now. I always wanted to do it, but I just never had thick enough skin,\u2019 he shared with The Times<\/a>. \u2018A girlfriend I had while teaching was a pragmatist and always told me that if you want to do something, then go for it. <\/p>\n \u2018So eventually I made the switch. Comedy is definitely where I\u2019m happiest.\u2019<\/p>\n Is Greg Davies married?<\/p>\n \t\t While Greg is not married and is thought to be single, he has publicly poked fun at his relationship status.<\/p>\n Last May, appearing on the red carpet at the TV Baftas<\/a>, where Taskmaster was nominated in the entertainment category, co-star Alex thanked his wife, Rachel Horne, a former BBC business journalist, telling comedian Tom Allen: \u2018I would like to thank my wife for getting us here tonight.\u2019<\/p>\n In response, Greg quipped: \u2018I don\u2019t have a wife, so maybe I can thank Alex\u2019s wife.\u2019<\/p>\n Alex suggested that Greg could bump into his future spouse at the starry event, to which he said: \u2018Maybe I will. I\u2019m open to it.
